The Grants Program Officer is responsible for providing oversight for the Arts and Humanities Council of Montgomery County?s (AHCMC)?s grant making program, in addition to administering the various grant award and related roster processes. The Grants Program Officer is also responsible for acting as a positive public figure for AHCMC and the grants program, and for creating an environment wherein applicants, potential applicants, grantees and the community perceive AHCMC as being both a leader and resource for the arts and humanities community.
Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: ? Manage entire grant process including:

  • Guideline and application preparation
  • Grant preparation workshops and one-on-one support
  • Receipt of and review of applications
  • Panel review process
  • Awarding of grants
  • Grantee accountability and reporting
  • Manage awardee selection and grantee recognition efforts at the County Executive?s Awards for Excellence in the Arts and Humanities including:
  • Nomination of and selection of awardees o Selection of grantee entertainment o Grantee attendance and recognition
  • Oversee activities of Grants Committee and grant-related actions of AHCMC Board including:
  • Preparation of comprehensive grant recommendations and reports
  • Policychangesregarding grants
  • Manage grants program budget, including tracking grant expenditures, invoicing andreporting
  • Manage annual awarding of the Ida F. Haimovicz Visual Arts Award and the Fran Abram Humanities Award including: o Nomination and selection of awardees o Awardee recognition events
  • ?Maintain a relationship with grantees, including attendance at grantee events
  • ?Consult with grantees and potential grantees regarding capacity building
  • Prepare the annual budget request and other correspondence to the County government asit relates to the grants program in coordination with the CEO
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications and Skills include:

  • Bachelor?s degree ? 3-5 years experience in grantmaking or a related position
  • Acute attention to detail
  • Strong written and verbal communication
  • Strong planning skills
  • Proficiency using various computer programs ? Seasoned judgment

Compensation: Salary commensurate with experience, ranging from $45,000 ? $55,000 /year. Benefits package includes paid vacation, sick leave, health insurance, 403(b) plan, parking allowance. No relocation allowance.
